Happy Halloween, everyone...come again soon to our blog and you may see some of the crazy photos we will take tonight on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, where 50,000 costumed people are expected to turn out. It's been warm here the last two days so that will help keep the crowds thick too!

We will not be home, so we are putting outside a decorated box full of candy and other more spooky surprises. Hopefully people will not be afraid to look inside. Shu Wen also did a great pumpkin carving with a little kit specially designed for the purpose. That is much better than my boring pumpkins from past years.

Last night we took a study break and translated the local rap song It's Carrboro. The original composers of the song posted our rendition on their website and that link is to the right now. We have to aid the reputation of the Paris of the Piedmont.

Otherwise, we're keeping busy, as usual. We will soon be down to one car as we are getting rid of Shu Wen's '96 Saturn. That will be good since we definitely do not need two cars at this stage in our lives and that one just sits in the lot until we decide it has not been driven enough.

I have a defense date - December 12 - for my Master's paper. I really need to get that out of the way so that I can start concentrating on my dissertation work. It has really been dragging on; part of the problem is that each person on my committee seems to want something different and the paper is in danger of becoming a treatise that is thoroughly unpublishable. It may already be there. Sigh!
