HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
What a whirlwind 2010! We had an eventful year with us hitting the job-market, interviewing in a few places and then ultimately deciding to remain in the Durham-Chapel Hill area in North Carolina. Marc accepted an offer at Duke University and is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Sanford School of Public Policy, and Shuwen remained in the Department of Nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill as a Research Assistant Professor.
Once we determined our job situation, we turned to work on our housing situation! We are now busy home-owners with more rooms to clean, a lawn to mow, and a small plot for a vegetable garden. Please note our new home address (and additional contact information) below. 
In August, we picked up two new additions to our household – Sophie and Coquette, sister calico kittens with quirky and sometimes neurotic personalities. Sophie is curious, feisty and easily motivated by food, while Coquette (aka Coco) is more timid and docile. They continue to surprise and intrigue us with their adorable and often acrobatic antics.

As usual, we had numerous running escapades and ran many races this year, including the Boston Marathon in April (both Marc & Shuwen) and the 210 mile Blue Ridge Relay in September (Shuwen was one of the 12 runners in her team). We also traveled to a few countries for work (especially Marc, who spent time in Sudan, Ethiopia, India, Bangladesh, France, and Canada). He also enjoyed teaching a Fall course on Water Conflict and Cooperation to Masters students and initiated a few new projects with other Duke faculty.
We are thankful for our continuing and new friendships this year, as we transitioned into our new neighborhood and work lives. We are truly sorry if we were unable to connect with you this year. We hope to find an opportunity to see you in 2011!
