A terribly belated Thanksgiving to all!

We spent our first Thanksgiving in our new home with Marc’s parents (Abel & Maretta), our neighbors (Ben & Corinne), an ex-housemate (Tim), and 2 foreign post-docs (Tewodros from Ethiopia and Jiang from China), plus the kitties of course. Maretta help me with much of the preparing for a few of the casseroles which I had Wednesday evening, and Marc took charge of the Turkey (which we acquired from winning a Turkey Trot the Sunday before) on Thursday, which basically only left the stuffing to prepare, a salad to throw together, and the table to set! It was actually a relatively stress-free meal to put together… much thanks to all the helpful hands and dish contributions by Corinne! I suppose as the holidays approach it is only appropriate to consider the many things to be thankful for this year.

For me, these include:

  • The opportunities to connect with family throughout the year (my brother & sis-in-law in Dubai, the Wares in PA, Maretta & Abel in Chicago & here, Eric in NC, and Phil in Chicago)
  • Being surrounded by supportive friends and family who somehow always put up with my neurotic behavior and occasionally negative thoughts
  • A patient and loving hubby who despite all his commitments professionally and in the community always makes sure to make me feel special
Marc heads out to India for 2 weeks on Saturday for a research survey project there. Hopefully he will be able to find the time to make a blog post or two from there.

I can’t believe it’s already December --- where did November go --- for that matter, October and September too!?!
