Hello! Labor Day came and went, and we labored, on our studies, and going for runs. For Marc, it was the longest run of another pre-marathon training cycle, about 25 miles last night in the cool air. It's been dreadfully humid ever since Tropical Storm Fay brought 4 inches of rain last Wednesday and Thursday, but yesterday was much better. This reprieve will last until late week when Hurricane Hanna's humid air will arrive.

That will happen just in time for our trip to Virginia for two running friends' wedding. Jason runs for the Carrboro Athletics Club (CAC) and Trish used to. We will drive up there with Joan, the CAC coach, attend the wedding, and camp the night. We are a bit nervous about that because of Hanna...but there are not too many other lodging options since it takes place at a State Park or some such place, and we did not reserve a cabin. Eek!

The following weekend we will pay a visit to Philly and our new nephew Jonathan, who is now above 7 pounds. He's tiring his new parents out at night since he wakes up often (according to grandma). Our trip will be short, as we will go up after a concert here Thursday night and return to DC for a half marathon Sunday morning. Saturday's the Swarthmore alumni meet and we will be there but not running too hard. Sunday's race is the big preparation for Marc before the full marathon in the Twin Cities three weeks later.

Otherwise, things are more or less the same with us here. We are planning our October trip to Europe (a conference in Thessaloniki for Marc and post-doc visit to Bilbao, Spain). We will spend a few days visiting Madrid and Athens as well.
