Marc ran his first race since December today, at the Tar Heel 10-miler:

A third place finish was reasonable although Marc has a feeling that his best racing days are past. The course was tough, the weather a bit muggy, and the younger runners in front just too strong. Sigh!

Shuwen is away now in San Diego at a conference until Wednesday, and the academic semester is winding down, so it feels more and more like summer. The vegetable garden is well underway, with tomatoes, okra, lettuce, chard, cabbage, radishes, spinach, beans and herbs all growing, enjoying the warm weather. And our CSA has started up again, so we have lots of vegetables to eat. Not to mention the spring flowers in bloom!

Sophie and Coquette celebrated their second birthday this week! They seem happy enough, and enjoy sitting next to open windows, watching fluttering birds and other neighborhood cats walk by. They still enjoy stalking insects; otherwise we think their favorite activity is dozing.
