Hope everyone had a great starting for 2009!

We were in/around New Bern this past week with Marc's family. It was quite remarkable and heart-warming that all 11 adults and 1 baby were able to get together this year. We all had to make some kind of sacrifice to make it happen (e.g., lots of driving, travel expenses, time from work, investing time to figure out logistics, cooking for lots of people, etc.), but clearly everyone thought it important enough. Needless to say, we ate well (lots of seafood!), made some new memories, reflected on some old memories, and learned a few things (e.g., how to play Taboo for most of the family, deer hunting season is Oct- Mar, always cross-reference guidebooks, ...)

Here are some pictures (username: shuwenng@hotmail.com and password: sharepics)

We are now back in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, having to buckle down and get our dissertation done! Do not be surprised if this blog goes quiet for a while. Wish us luck!
