The weather here has been quite remarkable the last few days! On Saturday, we attended Joe Cook & Sarah Fuller's wedding with clear blue skies and temperatures around the 70s- 80s. It was a lovely affair held on a big open lawn in front of a small lake, and their dogs were the flower girl and ring-bearer :)

Sunday, it was as low as ~ 65 degrees in the morning as Shuwen & Marc each did their respective runs (3 miles & 20 miles). Shuwen even had to pull out a blanket while reading the new Harry Potter book outside on Sunday (she was quite into it and ignored poor Marc all Sunday long --- but made up for it by going to Tri-yoga class with him this morning, jogging there and walking back together).

Tomorrow night we will have friends over for a provincial French dinner -- Galettes, Ratatouille, and some homebaked bread with chevre and brie! Our veggie garden is progressing beautifully. We've harvested a few tomatoes, and it looks like we have a few hanebaro peppers on the way. The eggplants, squashes and zuchinni plants have been flowering, but so far no surviving fruit yet (one baby squash got attacked by a bunny we think).

Marc has been working hard on his new consulting project with the World Bank on waste-water reuse, and has also been kept busy with church-related activities.
On Thursday, we will head to Chicago for Marc's LPHS reunion and spend time with the folks. Then, in early August, we will spend about a week in Washington DC in while Marc has working meetings with folks at the World Bank.

Shuwen had a few productive meetings this past week and is making progress towards defending her dissertation proposal in the Fall. This coming Fall will prove to be an interesting foray into teaching for Shuwen. She will be the instructor for a 6 week long math, statistics and linear algebra review class for the first year PhD students in her department, as well as a teaching assistant (TA) for her advisor in his data analysis class.
