Yesterday, we brought Tim with us to go blueberry picking in Durham.
We froze a bunch of them for future use in dessert-making. Apaprently the spring frost did some serious damage to this year's blueberry and black berry crops, so there weren't many for us to find. After about an hour the 3 of us ended up with only 3.5 pounds of blueberries. Still, it wasn't too bad -- we were expecting worse after the farmer warned us. We love harvesting fruit at the farms. There is something special about knowing you are eating something you just freshing picked off the bush.In the afternoon, we attended Liz (one of Shuwen's friends from Duke) and Cesar's wedding at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. It was sweltering hot, but all worth it for a lovely occasion. Congrats to Liz & Cesar!
We used the Amazon gift certificate Chris & Christine got Marc for Christmas towards a set of Pasta-making attachments for the KitchenAid (also compliments of C&C) and got to try it out tod
ay making some Spinach fettuccine for lunch. It was pretty straightforward and quite fun. The only things we struggled with a little was figuring out how to hang the cut pasta to ensure they did not get tangled & stuck together. Marc was creative and ended up rigging up something with skewers and tongs. We had also picked up a bag of fresh basil from the Farmer's Market, so Marc made a batch of pesto, which we made with the pasta --- 
we had a very green lunch! We still have another pound of homemade spinach pasta to eat over the next few weeks. Next, we plan to also use to KitchenAid for baking our own breads.We have decided to document our all-time favorite Locopops (homemade Mexican paletas) flavors. Folks will have to come visit us in the Triangle to know what we are talking about!
