Summer is almost officially over with school about to start up again tomorrow. Marc has been working hard the past week on a report for the World Bank team he is counsulting with. This weekend he worked on the sessions he is teaching in an ENVR course starting tomorrow. Shuwen met up with a number of faculty this past week and is busy making revisions to her proposal draft, so that she will be able to send it out to the committee by the end of the month.
Sarah Jay was in town (well, Durham, but that's only 20 mins away) this past weekend to see a very pregnant Fong, so Marc met up with her & Karen for lunch on Saturday. Unfortunately Shuwen was unable to join in the fun as she was having some fun of her own in Hillsborough slathering on Stucco to the foundation of a Habitat house. We shall see her again in Nov in NYC!
Yesterday was our first anniversary! We had a leisurely day, starting with a 22-mile run for Marc, a large pancake (topped with necterines, raspberries & Vermont maple syrup), bacon & eggs breakfast. Our church's service was very focused between the liturgy, the message and annoucements, they all directed us to go out and serve others! We hung around church for a while afterward to catch up with various folks, then headed home for lunch. Later in the afternoon we caught the Simpsons movie in Southern Village before having dinner at Panzanella. It was a lovely, restful day to enjoy together. On our walk home, we saw a guy with a bookcase (no joke -- it was prob about 4 ft by 5 ft and 1 ft deep) strapped to his back, riding his bike!! Only in Carrboro!
We finally convinced Marc's parents to visit us here in Carrboro! Yay! They will be in town August 31 (Fri) - Sept 5th (Wed) to see for themselves what the hoopla about Locopops, Magnolia Grill, and the Carrboro Farmer's Market (among others) are all about.
